The first fact I remember about Berlin is that there is a very old and famous zoo there. It isn't the history, the culture, the fact that it is the on-again, off-again capital city of Germany nor is it that the majority of the city was flattened in the Second World War or there was a wall separating it in two for decades. It is that there is a zoo in Berlin.
What is wrong with me?!!!!
Well, needless to say that visiting the Berlin zoo was high on my priority last. I can now cross one more item off my bucket list.
*Please note that I visited the major sights of history and interest first, making them a priority before I "ate my pudding", as it were.
Mr. U and I set out to see the fishies first (of course) and then I spent a few hours visiting the animals in the zoo. Of particular interest to me are chameleons, and hippopotamusseses. There is a special place in my heart for bizarre creatures, what can I say?

these little guys were called Foureyes as they have four eyes - two above and two below the water! |

This guy won the staring contest - note its lack of eyelids, I had no chance of winning. |
|
This frill-necked lizard was rather put off that people were staring at him. He was downright ornery. |

The habitat was being renovated so the big kitties had to hang out inside. |
